I'm a Toronto Stock Exchange Newbie...?

So I want to learn more about the TSX, so I'm going to test it out with some little stocks that don't have very big margines and don't change a lot. I'm looking for some advice, I've been researching. I just need to know how to buy the stocks once I choose a company, and if you suggest any companies in particular?
