How does the Book of Mormon compare to other fictional works from the 19th Century?

It's hard to compare a non-fiction book with fiction books. If it were to be compared to a fictional work, it would be comparable to Les Miserables because it is so epic in scope. It doesn't cover a single event, it covers a series of events. The book, as a whole, covers 1000 years of history starting in Jerusalem and ending in the Americas.
