Does anyone recall how Nikita Khrushchev was treated during his visit to the US in 1959?

I remember when he addressed the United Nations embly in New York. He took his shoe off and was banging it on the rostrum to enforce the point he was making. No, I don�t believe he was congratulating you on your character, quite the reverse.
